@Rob T Firefly—that's such a great memento to have. Now I want to read her memoir, because the NY Times obituary was fascinating... I knew she had a hard life, but didn't know about her sharecropping and factory years.

Eartha Kitt gave this autograph to my late grandfather nearly 50 years ago. It was one of his favorite mementos of his time as an usher in one of the old movie palaces back then, and after he passed away it became one of my mementos of him. I had always meant to catch one of her appearances in hopes of thanking her on his behalf, and asking her to sign it again for me. Sadly that won't happen now. She was dynamite, though.
