THEATER: Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan is set in 1934 on an island off the west coast of Ireland, where Hollywood filmmaker Robert Flaherty is filming his movie The Man of Aran, an event that thrills the bored residents of rural Inishmaan. None is more excited than orphan Billy Claven, the titular cripple who strives for a role in the movie. Big Ben Brantley at the Times calls this revival of the 1997 play "a subversive charmer... It’s hard to imagine an interpretation that makes this play’s singular melding of sentimentality and savagery feel more organic than this one does." – John Del Signore

8 p.m. // Atlantic Theater Company at the Linda Gross Theater [336 W 20th St] // $65
