NJ Carjacker Texts For Forgiveness

2008_12_.jpgMyFox New York spoke to a NJ woman who was carjacked by a gun-wielding man at the Jersey Gardens Mall over the weekend. The woman, who decided to take a break from studying for her medical board exams by shopping, was forced back into the car but she jumped out when he started to drive: "The thief made off with her car, purse, and cell phone. The victim's boyfriend sent a text message to the phone and incredibly, the carjacker responded, begging forgiveness. He claimed he did it to feed his kids."

Smart moves by the carjacker: Preemptive crocodile tears.

If he gets caught, then that simple message will "prove remorse" and get him a far better deal.

I am nearly boggled by this. Does this car jacker know that cell phones can be traced with GPS locators? And did this woman not learn this week that jumping out of a moving vehicle is dangerous?
