Gotcha. I understand that there are dumb laws everywhere instituted by those in the government who know such laws remove responsibility from the individual so that when they (government peeps) eventually fuck up something, they can place the blame elsewhere without feeling guilty about it. Land of the free (from blame) and home of the brave (enough to look you in the eye and say "It's not my fault.").

HBDC- Oops(my internet connection was down for hours). I definitely was not making excuses for the two people involved in this case, but the fact is that there is legislation in NYS known as Dram Shop laws where a bar owner could be held liable for injuries incurred as a result of over-imbibing by patrons. Seems like the bar owners quote to the Post could get him in trouble should someone decide to sue. Just sayin'...

Why is that JRod? Do the people that paid for and imbibed the alcohol have no responsibility for their own actions? Or can I sue the owner of the deli across the street from me for selling me the candy bar that he just had to know I would choke on later that day?

Did the bar owner just open himself up to a lawsuit? Not good to admit to newspaper that your patrons got smashed just before one of them jumped out of a moving car...
