l_74337960baab7ad3d78871ee1fa39354.jpgHOLIDAY: Earlier this year Nico Muhly told us about his holiday show at the Guggenheim; "Well, it's kind of the simplest thing in the world, a Christmas Carol. It's a gorgeous space so I'll probably take advantage of that and write something circular, like a canon or a round, but really at the end of the day a Christmas Carol is a really simple construction that needs to bank on, like, Holiday Cheer rather than anything too clever." Tonight you can catch the free holiday concert.

6 p.m. // Guggenheim Museum [1071 5th Ave] // Free

MUSIC: It's an early night at Santos Party House, with sets by Growing, Child Abuse, Orphan, and Extreme Violence (oh these kids and their band names these days). Don't expect any Christmas carols, do expect noise rock and death metal.

7:30 p.m. // Santos Party House [100 Lafayette] // $10

EVENT: Burlesque meets Oprah's Book Club tonight as Inbred Hybrid Collective and MIXNYC present another Book Club Burlesque. "The 9th in the popular series is inspired by John Rechy's City of Night. Featuring legendary work in many mediums by: Agnes De Garron, Devon Gallegos, Ella Veres, Flawless Sabrina, Jessica Delfino, Leslie Lowe, Luc Goodhart, Max Factor, Stephen Kent Jusick, and more! Hear the story of the streets from the mouths of those who know it best: the freaks!"

8 p.m. // Slipper Room [167 Orchard St] // $7

THEATER: Men are literally pigs in Chris Weikel's "urban faerie story" Pig Tale. Well, actually, it's just one man named Dave who gets mysteriously turned into a pig during sex with his not-quite-boyfriend Johnny. Backstage is amused: "Enlisting the help of his slacker friend Kyle (Tim Dietrich), who, surprisingly, holds a master's in comparative folklore, Johnny sets out to change Dave back into his hotty human self before Animal Control can break up their blossoming relationship. With witty banter, Weikel turns the notion of happily ever after on its well-worn head, injecting camp and fetish gags (furries, anyone?) into Pig Tale's fractured fairy-tale format." – John Del Signore

8 p.m. // Wings Theatre Company [154 Christopher St] // $20
