- Giants 34 Carolina 28: This was exactly the type of game the Giants needed. New York gained 301 yards on the ground, Derrick Ward had 215 of those, as they pounded their way to the #1 seed in the NFC.
It took a lot of grit and some luck to win this game. New York trailed 21-10 at one point in the second quarter and 28-20 when they got the ball back with just over seven minutes left in the game. They converted two big third downs on that drive and after scoring the touchdown, tied things up on a 2-pt conversion. Carolina got the ball back and had a field goal to win the game with nine seconds left, but John Kasay’s 50-yard attempt was wide left.
After trading punts in overtime, a sequence which included the Giants almost losing the ball on a muff, Derrick Ward took over. Ward busted runs of 51 and 19 yards to put the ball on the two and Brandon Jacobs carried New York to victory.
So, the losing streak is done and the Giants will play at home in the NFC playoffs. - Seattle 13 Jets 3: It is probably safe to assume that the Jets will not vacation on the West Coast this offseason. Four times New York went out West this season and four times they lost to teams with a combined record of 21-39. And, as bad as they played Sunday they sabotaged themselves with a stupid decision late in the game. Down by 7 and facing a fourth-and-two from their own 20 they went for it, despite having three time outs. When they didn’t convert, they gave Seattle the ball in scoring position, which allowed them to kick a field goal to put the game out of reach.
Now the Jets are going to need New England to lose next week against Buffalo and win their game against the Dolphins in order to make the playoffs.
- Boston 124 Knicks 105: The Knicks just are not ready to compete at this level, but give them credit for hanging in this game.
- Devils 3 Philadelphia 2 (Shootout): Jamie Langenbrunner scored on the Devils third shot of the shootout to extend it and Travis Zajac won it for New Jersey.

YES!! NEW YORK Giants will win another superbowl
Things were shaky there in the first half but once the D finally got its head out of its ass they were fine. The two-point conversion that tied it up was a thing of beauty. Ward and Jacobs were great. Only the third time ever that the Giants got the #1 seed in the conference, and both other times they went to the Superbowl. We'll see.
