- Three good Samaritans caught a mugger who beat and tried to rob a woman in the East Village (near Mama's Bar) on Tuesday night. One told the Post, "As soon as I grabbed him, he started crying and said, 'Don't call police,' and 'Let go, I have asthma.'"
- A man accused of opening fire at a Long Island high school parking lot after a basketball game, hitting a 14-year-old boy in the leg, was held on $1 million bond.

- The landmark Asbury Park nightclub the Stone Pony was supposed to reopen after renovations on December 26 with a show from the Bouncing Souls, but the opening is postponed, as more work need to be done.
