Unlikely the area will return to the halcyon days of Panic in Needle Park. Many of the SRO hotels of yesteryear have been converted to luxury apartments.

maybe that area will return to what it was like in the movie "Panic in Needle Park" If you haven't seen it - i highly reccomend for some gritty NYC nostalgia

I walked by around 730 and the area was crawling with cops and news camera's. I think we're gonna start to see a lot more violent crime now that the economy is depressed... what's more scary is that the economy hasn't hit rock bottom yet.
