Snow on the Way

Ack! The same storm that dumped a rare three inches of snow on Las Vegas will be affecting New York tomorrow. As of now it looks like snow will begin to fall early tomorrow morning. The snow is likely to mix with sleet after daybreak and turn to a rain/snow/sleet mix by tomorrow afternoon. The city will be close to the rain/snow line for much of the day, making it difficult to say how much snow will accumulate. AccuWeather says 1-3 inches in the city while the Weather Service goes with 3-5 inches. Either way tomorrow morning's commute is looking sloppy. Areas to the immediate north of the city are likely to see 5-10 inches of snow and a winter storm warning has been issued, while southern New England could have a foot or more snow. Maybe we'll have a white Christmas after all.

Snow in Vegas, or as Al Gore's brainwashed minions call it; more proof of global warming.

I can't wait! It means more business in my taxicab. It means motorists behaving more subdued and a legitimate excuse to be stuck in traffic. Not that I like being in a jam, but I hate it when the passenger blames it on me. I just moved to Richmond Hill from Brooklyn and now have an actual hill across the street in Forest Park to slide down in the snow. Any ideas for what sort of snow capsule I might use to sit on?

Ides,
Literalist, small-minded thinker that you've consistently proven yourself to be: Global warming is not defined, empirically, by WARMTH!! Rather, it is defined by wildly fluctuant extremes in weather. Bigger, badder storms (Katrina, anyone?? Hardly defined by the temperature of its wetness!!); longer, more profound drought; hotter heat waves; etc.. Things like these (indisputably extreme temperature swings; the shortening of springs & autumns followed by spikes into winters & summers) ARE characteristic of global warming. You clearly hate Al; at least do so for a legitimate reason. You continue to give wingnuts their due.

Ides, so Monday's record high disproves global warming? I'm not following your logic. Oh, wait, there isn't any. Maybe you should get a dictionary and look up "weather" and "climate" to see that they have different definitions.

Not Snow! We are all going to die. No more internet. Nothing! A black hole! Argh! Then again it's to be expected this time of year. Las Vegas deserves anything it gets.

In a related news article a cab driver asked what he should use to sled down a hill in Staten Island. Try using the lid from a garbage can or even more unusual a sled sans dogs.

Global Warming/Climate Change is NOT man made, it's part of the natural weather patterns (such as the high warmth period of the Middle Ages and the Ice Ages of ancient times).

The whole thing is a hoax to tax the masses.

Uch, mild all season until I have to fly to see family. I am dreading the trip to the airport. But, as we've all said, it's coming on winter and snow happens.
