Kerrey Blogs for New School Audience

New School president Bob Kerrey has started a blog (well, he is on Facebook anyway) to open up lines of communication with the school community. The former Senator has been under fire after announcing he would assume the role of provost after the fifth provost in 7 years was let go, which then prompted senior faculty to give him a vote of no-confidence. Kerrey, who is no longer assuming interim provost duties, tells readers, "I look forward to having a direct conversation with you about the future of the New School," but one student writes, "I appreciate that you want to hear, or read, my voice. However, I am a little disappointed that this blog has been setup now after the recent incidents. It seems like this blog is just flimflam for you to claim an active roll in listening to what faculty and students have to say. I would like to remind people that even if you do genuinely interact with this blog, it still is only a product of the situation and should not distract from any current affairs."

  • I was insulted at first, but then I started taking (sophomore) courses in France, and got the point. New School was bullshit. Especially New School for Parsons students. Spell, how about write. "...distract from any current affairs...". "Any"? Really you want him to pay attention to all affairs of a current nature.

"...this blog is just flimflam for you to claim an active roll in listening..."

I suppose it could be a flimflam to make people think you are listening. Or a flimflam that lets you claim to be listening.

But they must be learning from the war hero. "I look forward to having a direct conversation with you about the future of the New School,". Direct. If comunicating via a blog is direct, what is an conversation conducted in person or a phone call? "SUPER-DIRECT"

    Shame the student can't spell.

The New School sucks. I was an art student at Parsons for the New School BFA that I would get out of it (that's what I paid all that extra tuition for, instead of going to FIT). But the BFA I got out of it was such a JOKE that the French university I applied to later wouldn't even consider it as credit worthy. I was insulted at first, but then I started taking (sophomore) courses in France, and got the point. New School was bullshit. Especially New School for Parsons students. A total sham.

And then, when I came back to NY after post-graduation travelling and hoped to brush up on my skills using the free class they offered to us when I enrolled back then, the deal was off. It was like going back to the dealership and being told to just go get a new car for all they care. They said, "the new administration doesn't offer that anymore."

Not to mention whatsisface didn't even support Obama!

I look at my alma mater and think, what a loser!

If this blog is a "flimflam for [Kerry] to claim an active role in listening to what faculty and students have to say.", then why does he write it like an IBM 8086? I mean the guy has all the charm and humanitas of an automatic door opener.
