Report: Caroline Kennedy Will Seek Clinton's Senate Seat

According to the NY Times, former First Daughter Caroline Kennedy is going after Hillary Clinton's Senate seat for reals: "Ms. Kennedy will ask that Gov. David A. Paterson consider her for the appointment." This comes after Kennedy simply discussed the possibility with Paterson earlier this month. Kennedy has been stepping up her campaign, what with calls to State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (who is "cool" to the idea). However, some NY State Democrats aren't sure about Kennedy, citing her lack of experience in public office; on the other hand, some think her connection to President-elect Obama could be helpful to the state.

gov. paterson won the ny senate seat once occupied by his father so it is hard to imagine he will buck the nepotism trend. if people truly want to stop this kind of behavior, i urge you to stop voting for the two major parties and try and get some new blood in government.

anti kennedy "democrat" (for lack of a better choice) here, definitely voted against hilary for senate, against bloomjerk for 2nd term (and soon for 3rd term), and am against this latest nepotistic travesty, should the poindexter need some kind of random clarification from anonymous people

There is no way she is the most qualified person available to take the seat, not by a longshot. If she gets it, it'll be because she's a Kennedy. I'm not OK with that. If she'd like to hold public office, she needs to do what everybody else does and run for something.
