New Venue Alert: The Cameo in Williamsburg

ANYTIME1208.jpgThe restaurant formerly known as Anytime Cafe on North 6th Street in Williamsburg has been transformed into Lovin' Cup Cafe...and now, an attached space in the back of the joint will become a venue.

Not much information is available yet, but the unfortunately named The Cameo "is a venue in the heart of Williamsburg that functions as a visual art gallery by day, and a music venue by night. A cross between Pianos and the Mercury Lounge, the Cameo is booking some of New York and Brooklyn's most promising musical talent. With several bands per night, the rich sound and provocative wall art create a sensory experience not to be missed. Attached to N. 6th Street's Lovin Cup Cafe, the building offers a prime destination spot. Catch a show in the back Cameo space, and enjoy a late night burger served up at the Lovin Cup."

The space will be 150-capacity with 30-foot ceilings, and we've heard some promising things about the sound and atmosphere. Hopefully it'll be able to last on the sonically saturated stretch of the street (The Music Hall of Williamsburg and Public Assembly are nearby). Doesn't look like the space will be ready until early '09, so stay tuned...

I quite agree. They make a kickass grilled cheese or veggie burger, the waitstaff are incredibly nice and helpful, and the Cameo has gorgeous artwork on its walls. Music is quite enticing as well.

unlike all of the comments already posted here I actually have been to Lovin' Cup. Quite good as a matter of fact. Been there twice already and the last time was for their awesome 6 dollar brunch. They also had live music and the band was really good. Staff was way friendlier than anytime. I suggest you to check this place out!

Yeah Anytimes food blows balls. I once ordered take out there and I waited for 20 min while my food sat for 30 min without anyone noticing. They seem to deep fry all their food. Music is way to load at time. Maybe to distract you for the horrible food.

Unfortunate name AND horrible food. It's gonna take a great band to bring me there.

  • Brainwash

Does this mean they won't have that great gorgonzola lasagna anymore? Dammit!

The only way they'll get me in there is if the actual band "Cameo" is doing a show there.

    WORD UP!
