LI Teen Shot Outside High School Basketball Game

A 14-year-old boy was shot last night outside a basketball game in Mastic Beach. As awards were being given out after a tournament at William Floyd High School in Suffolk County, shots were heard between the gym and the parking lot. A freshman was then rushed inside to be treated for a gunshot wound to his calf. The boy was a student, but not one of the players and there has been no word yet on the identity of the shooter or if it was another student as well. The athletic director described the chaotic scene saying, "We went into immediate lockdown mode...The cheerleaders were moved into a visiting locker room area, and the spectators from (visiting high school) Mercy were put in a hallway away from the crime scene. No one was allowed to leave for 20 minutes while we waited for emergency personnel and the police."

thank you eman74 and jen s you are a pessimist and need to think before you say your cynical comments. im sure you dont live in the most wonderful area either and some places in floyd are actually really nice, have you heard of the estates. it's not my towns fault you dated a dirtbag that happened to live here, if you really want to live in a utopia society, reality check dumbass you will never reach your goal and you will not have a fulfilled life when you die. might i say if you havnt heard already the shooter was found in happhauge and had 10 different addresses all over the island. he was also 27 years old a involved in a gang which if you havn't came out from under your rock latley are every where not just mastic.

To Jen S, just because you like to date trash, don't label a whole area.

Like any area, Mastic Beach, where the shooting happened, which by the way is a different town and zip code, then Mastic where the graffiti incident happened, has people prone to crime. The suffolk county police plotter includes all towns. The area has a lot of good hard working people, in addition to some of the most beautiful parks and beaches on Long Island.

Don't dump on my town to make yourself feel better about the overpriced, elitest, haughty self assuming town you live in.

On a separate note to your "do your time and get out comment" that indicates to me the lazy, fearful type of person you are, scared off by minor incidents of crime, and too lazy to take park and make your community a better place.

okay jaquemehoff i dont exactly appreciate you calling my neighbor hood the white trash area of suffolk..i was there at the shooting i was one of those cheerleaders rushed into the locker room ..yeah ill be the first one to admit that floyd doesnt have the best repuatation but its personal when you start calling it white trash and plus might i add it was black people doing the shooting. not trying to be racist or anything but just trying to prove a point and the fact that the person who shot the gun everyone beleives was not from floyd. so thank you for being a jerk and not realizing that everything about floyd isnt so bad.
