The police are loathe to do anything about the obvious issues with Christopher street. Because of the Stonewall legacy with the street. But it's not about people expressing themselves, it's about the seriously thuggish atmosphere that develops and has developed for years on that street. I have seen more fights and verbal attacks break out on that street in 20 years living in this city than I did anywhere else. The community needs to strongly oppose the type of atmosphere that's created by the lowpiced bars and cheap sex shops.

I live on Perry and see these people every night. Mostly black, some hispanic, 22-mid 30's. The occasional white trash eminem wannabe, usually on the younger side than the blacks and hispanics. Close that PATH station down and you'd see most of it disappear. That's where they come from and that's where they go running to when it hits the fan.

Hmmmmm! Not to much crime where Sen. Tom Duane lives at 8th avenue and 28th street but down near Broadway and 28th street,forgetahbout it. Maybe Quinn lives near where the muggings are in this report.
