FIT Ladies Get a Kick Out of Their Own Drug Busts

2008_12_FITcoke.jpgAs two young women were led out of FIT student housing in handcuffs last night after getting busted for running a coke ring, the only emotions revealed from their faces came from having a case of the giggles. When they spotted reporters out front of their West 31st Street dorms following the arrests of the two as well as their supplier on multiple counts of cocaine possession and sale, 22-year-old Christine Scafa laughed and said, "Oh my God, are you guys serious? We're not Plaxico Burress!" This triggered her 21-year-old partner in crime Mickenzie Dippenworth to zing back, "Well, I'm a Plaxico Burress fan." Like her fallen idol, Dippenworth was no stranger to the city club scene, where she originally sold cocaine to an undercover cop at nearby hotspot Home. That led to a series of undercover purchases as police gathered evidence of the two dealing to a number of fellow FIT students. The Post says that both were from "very good backgrounds:" Scafa ran in this year's NYC Marathon and Dippenworth was once a girl scout. UPDATE: FIT's president sent an email to the school community: "this situation appears to be an isolated incident and involves no others on campus."

Aren't they too fat to be coke heads?

They obviously don't get high on their own supply.

She isn't going to be laughing when her fafsa is rejected for having a drug conviction.

Saw the headline and said to myself, "wow, the standards for fitness seem to have fallen drastically."

to SP: I thought the same exact thing.

The future looks bright eh?

SP: me, too.

These gals are in for some rude awakening. They had to know the risk, but they're in for a big surprise. This isn't the same as having a bag of weed for personal use. Moving coke, in what sounds like volume? Bye bye.

"Mickenzie Dippenworth?"

How do parody writers compete with reality these days?

Scafa - who finished this year's New York City Marathon in just over five hours
that's her in the front, wearing the NYC marathon shirt. and it was all for nothing because she ended up looking fat in her arrest photo, so there's no way she can set it as her myspace profile in a few years. that's a double-whammy

by the way, the title of this thread is misleading....

There goes their career in fashion.

Too bad colleges don't teaches courses on common sense. Perhaps then these two grinning idiots would know how deep a pile of shit they're in.

drug dealing appears to be recession-proof.

i would never describe that lady as fit.

some don't seem to realize FIT stands for Fashion Institute of Technology here in the gothamist think tank..

blargh blargh blargh women who are not stick-thin get ranked on, shocker of the century. Grow up, d-bags.

They have more drug dealers on Columbia campus. I guess it is a work-study program

At least these gals are stimulating the economy.

@15 -- no, they get it, they're just making a pun.

@16 -- meh. If they were ugly guys, they'd get ragged on too. 'tis the nature of the intertubes.

How much more time and money are we going to continue wasting on this "War on Drugs" until people are fed up with it?

Just to put this in perspective, consider that the police consider drugs to be dangerous and harmful to people (and I agree), yet they allowed these dealers to continue in business so they could buy more drugs under cover and increase the charges filed against them.

However obnoxious these F.I.T. students may be, do they represent a danger to the general public? They were not selling drugs to small children or forcing anyone to take them.

They're not fit and my gosh, don't i just know it!

Polite: Indeed. One of my hopes is that this budget/economic situation will lead people to seriously reconsider how much government money goes towards this crap. However, I know that it's a longshot.

"These gals are in for some rude awakening... Moving coke, in what sounds like volume? Bye bye."

"Two well-heeled Fashion Institute of Technology coeds, and their supplier -- who has a prior record -- was arrested too.

Their lawyers will get them a deal: plea to a reduced charge and testify against him; they'll get probation.

No bye bye.

@15:

No no I got the puns, I began to wonder if a few really didn't see it. Either that or their puns were lousy.

But then again all puns are lousy

People don't go to college to sell drugs, duh...
You're supposed to go to get an education so you don't end up selling yourself on the street like Elliot Spitzer's little lady friend....

It is sad that these two 'ladies' and I use that term loosley will get a deferred sentence since they probably have no priors...I would bet money that in 2 years or so one of them will be on the street homeless addicted to Heroin begging for money....

VERY SAD

Bxbrian, not all puns are lousy. Cow puns are udderly bovine!

I was told FIT stood for "Fags In Training".

stupid girls, there was a third person involved who supplied them with the drugs and used them. I bet he sleep with one of them.

No wonder all my coke was so thin. That fat bitch stepped the fuck all over it.

"If they were ugly guys, they'd get ragged on too"

I call bullshit on that. You guys wouldn't notice or give a shit and very few of us women would care enough to comment.

Other than their appearance, I am NOT defending these women.

Wonder how many people they helped to kill with thier coke pushing? Nothing to smile about. Those women are disgusting animals.

"Wonder how many people they helped to kill with thier coke pushing?"

That's a gross misconception. Drug dealers rarely, if ever, PUSH their drugs onto people. Only extremely gullible people believe the crap that the Reagans dished out to the general public during their DARE years.

@23

Probation? They have 8 charges (5 for Scafa/3 for dippenworth)of CSCS-3rd degree...That's Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree...that's a B Felony, minimum 2 years per charge upon conviction and the prosecutor has them dead to rights. Any plea deal involves jailtime, there was repeated criminal activity. Testifying against the source they already arrested? He's on his 9th offense, they will need very little to put him away, and if anything they will use him to flip on his source.

@32

of course you'd say that, you're a cowboys fan...

is it too early to say 13 years no playoff wins?

Bet Michael Irvin will be blowing lots of lines after they lose two of their next 3 to NFC East rivals.
