Ann Coulter Bombs at NYU

121108ann-coulter-image.jpgNYU student and blogger Ned Resnikoff's account of Anne Coulter's appearance at the university last night is so sharp you'd think the kid has a bright future in journalism ahead of him, if it wasn't for journalism's implosion: "Once you realize that the dog whistles are really all she has to offer, you finally understand what Ann Coulter’s all about. She’s about as much a serious political commentator as Carlos Mencia is; both go for cheap laughs by playing off of the worst in human nature... Unfortunately, my real question of the night never got asked: What the fuck were the NYU Republicans thinking? Ann Coulter hasn’t been politically relevant since she called Edwards a fag...Alas, the fact that College Republicans invited someone as alienating and nakedly anti-intellectual as Ann Coulter is just a metaphor for what you see happening to the Republican Party on the national level: the moderate voices of reason are getting ignored or marginalized, while the true believers burrow further into the warm, velvety soft cocoon of their own assholes."

SP, I'm none of the things you called Libertarians. I'm not self-righteous; I do not believe that my way is the only way. I do not have a lot of money. I'm not a crybaby whatsoever (if anything I try my best to shut crybabies up). And I'm not spoiled at all.

If a Libertarian touched you in a wrong place, I apologize, but if not then you seriously need to get over your own self-righteousness.

  • Ann Coulter is a brilliant satirist, in the same vein as Steven Colbert, but she really really commits to the bit. That's my only explanation for her. The way she is able to say ridiculous shit and be embraced by the right just highlights the problems with the Republican party. I commend her for her efforts.

@27 I'm actually a GIRL, so wrong again! And I happen to be taller than Ann~so wrong again! And a socially liberal Republican who doesnt agree with bunches of what she said, but she was still cooler, funnier and classier than any lame ass, living off my parents baby blogger could hope to be.

BTW if you were Isreali, would you REALLY think a Democrat would defend your statehood better than a Republican? Come the fuck on...

  • phatbenetar

    She resembles somebody's Slutty Aunt.

  • MFer

    I'm for libertarians, not Libertarians.

@25. I am sure you wet yourself during the ovation. Or twice during the 2 standing ovations. Nice. Now sit down and comtemplate on the fact that you are in love with a giraffe. Don't have a wet dream now.

Poetry. Pure fvckin', unadulterated sheer poetry.

    Bombed?

I was there, and contrary to the "commentary" of this blogging youngster who clearly needs to establish himself as a worthy member of the lefty blogging media so he can earn his .000025 cents per page view salary in the future, Ann was quite well received by an audience of 300-400 primarily young college students.

She was given two standing ovations and much applause and laughter all around. A good time was observed to be had by all.

I know that bit of news is probably as distressing to you all as Obama's cabinet picks are to the Daily Kos basement dwellers, but them's the facts

^ Where ten years from now, after entertaining a bunch of frats at a military school, Coulter will go "out for a few drinks" with some of them and wake up gang raped and covered with Sigma Chi graffiti in lipstick and blood. And she'll pick herself up, clean off the scrawls and go on TV later that night and blame the Democrats.

  • west side Michael

She sure draws them in ,in South Carolina.

I mean, it's nice to have multiple parties in theory, but in reality it rarely happens. While some governments system's usher forth more variety in congress and in elections, in the end most third party groups in that system end up making coalitions in which they end up in a very similar system with two coalitions. So my opinion is...believe what you want, and vote for the people most likely to give you that that can actually make a difference. More than once every 4 years only for the national candidates.

And after the 8 years of Bush, I really disagree that both parties offer the same thing. It makes a difference who you elect and which party you elect.

  • SP

Libertarians are a bunch of self righteous irresponsible spoiled cry baby rich kids.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

Michelle Malkin is a toss away mail order bride

  • Qraymond

The GOP is really three different parties(hawks, "values voters", and fiscals). When you combine these three ideologies into one pundit (say, Ann Coulter) you get contradictory, incoherent gibberish.

    Comedy ensues!

What's wrong with Libertarians? Seriously? What have you got against them other than being a third party? Have you ever done any detective work whatsoever to find out what you're dissing? I get so sick of all the high-and-mighty types acting as if the Dems and Reps are the only parties that matter when we all know that both parties are full of shit and both have torn this country apart with their divisive bullshit. Back when this country was founded, there were many political parties vying for local and federal offices. Now, the country has its priorities so fucked that people want a million different television channels but only want two choices for what really matters. It's really sad. If you don't agree with me, that's fine. It's your right to do so. But, one day you will realize that we cannot progress with the stagnation that the Democrats and Republicans have given us.

  • Rocknrope

Michelle Malkin, that cute ultra conservative cheerleader.

Sorry K, I have to question your taste in wemens. Malkin looks like the bastard child of Steven Tyler and a Star Trek Romulan.

  • danisaint

It's sad that Ann Coulter's view's about anything pass for news......what is this world coming too....

  • MFer

Just the thought that some people--if you can can Republicans people--actually find Ann Coulter sexy ... that's the smell of death and decay in a party.

But the party Libertarians? Uh, give me the librarians instead.

  • FelixtheCat & Christine Quinn'

her boobs are as fake as her views. she should work on the pole and not the political circuit.

  • Coulter could actually learn from Mencia; if she began stealing her material from those more talented than herself, she might actually be entertaining on some level.

  • Jefferson DArcy

    Ned Resnikoff?

Didn't Elaine get you blacklisted from Hop Sings?

  • mdow

God, I tried to think of something even remotely witty, but all I can think of after reading about this wench is:

    Fuck Ann Coulter.

  • Kojak

She's almost as annoying as Michelle Malkin, that cute ultra conservative cheerleader.

  • Politburo

And, since I have nothing better to do, if Resnikoff wants to take Coulter to task for using dogwhistles, he should probably avoid terms like "crypto-fascist" and "wingnut"..

  • S.D.

    Wasn't her jaw wired shut??

  • Politburo

And I would argue that Coulter has never really been politically relevant. She has never run for office, nor has she had any significant effect upon any election or policy. She may be relevant to those who follow politics.. but she's not in the actual game. It's like saying that Frank Deford or Dr. Z is relevant to sports.

  • babyhitler

Edwards sure showed Ann Coulter he wasn't a fag by impregnating some other bitch while his wife was battling cancer. Uncouth and heartless bastard yes, fag no.

  • Politburo

"Maybe the Republican party will fold under its own hubris, making way for a party that matters, the Libertarians."

Either you didn't re-read this before posting it, or you're a comic genius...

"Ann Coulter hasn’t been politically relevant since she called Edwards a fag."

    When was that—1985?

  • Guest

This is good news. Maybe the Republican party will fold under its own hubris, making way for a party that matters, the Libertarians.

  • neckbeard

fucking eh. i haven't read about this guy (he has an adams apple) in over a year. i had almost forgotten about him.
