I am trying not be prejudgemental, but doesn't the white cop look a little "weird"? I thought the NYPD had much higher standards than this. I wouldn't want to be standing next to him in the shower at the gym.

Testimony from the transit cop on the scene was that it was the baton (sometimes called an "ASP," which is a brand name), and that's where Mineo's DNA was found. @think twice: the officer actually may NOT have been off-duty. many use their shifts to pack the courts in support of their own. since it has become controversial for courts to be filled with uniformed officers, many have been required or volunteered to forgo the uniform. so, yeah, there is too much of what you say there is in the nypd, etc. and they totally don't care if they are doing it on our taxpayer dollar.
