[5] Indeed. I hope stories like this give people real pause. It is a damn shame that this young woman's bad decision (one that tons have made before her) appears to have ended to tragically. Never go to a second location!

The thing is, it's not illegal to have bloodstains in your car. It's not illegal to clean your apartment with bleach, or to rip out parts of your carpet. It's not illegal to dig through a dumpster or to call a friend and say "hey, if the police happen to call you, don't say anything." Put together, all that stuff looks incriminating, sure. But so far it's not enough to get a conviction on any criminal charges, and not even for an indictment. If not for the parole violation, he'd be walking around free -- or maybe would have skipped by now. Again, the fact that they can hold them on that means there's no reason to worry about charging him with anything else as the investigation proceeds. They even moved him closer, so he's conveniently located when the time does come.

...in spite of the police searching his apartment and finding blood in his car... That cuz she can't be found, dip shit. When they find her body the DNA will prove it all. I'm sure they're checking dental records as we write to see if those bite marks on his body match her jaw. to #6: I never used to be this way up there. I used to be in NP all the time and until recently, NP has lowered its standards... A damn shame.

As a student in New Paltz, I find myself intensely disturbed by the frequency of such incidents around my area. The suspect looks like any random guy I'd see around the bar. The incident is so tragic and frightening. I saw her parents on the news and they were just sobbing. It breaks my heart.

If nothing else, perhaps a few young women will realize there are a lot of creeps and psychos out there and be more careful when clubbing. Leaving a club with a stranger no matter how charming and attractive at 4 am is a very bad idea.

"why can't they charge him? " No hurry. If they charge him, they have six days from the date of his arraignment to get an indictment; otherwise they have to let him go. Thanks to the probation violation, there's no reason to rush to get in front of a grand jury. They can take time to develop as much evidence as possible, increasing the chances of success.
