Much of the city is like Night of the Living Dead. People aimlessly shuffling along, bumping into things, ignoring traffic lights. Most drivers are too busy on their cell phones or fiddling with their consoles to even acknowledge humanity. I am shocked more people aren't plowed into and left for dead.

I have to say, as a drive in the city, pedestrians take to many liberties. They often stand in the path of traffic as if cars always have the option to swerve to avoid them. A lot of this could be drunken fools behind the wheel, but it takes two to tangle. Im just saying. You do look both ways before you cross, dont you?

Lucky that was a wheelchair instead of bicycle....otherwise the NYPD might have ticketed the dead body, listed the accident as "operator error", and gave the drunk chick a commendation.

If She doesn't get hard time she'll probably do it again. A lot of DWIs are recidivists. If Lauren isn't properly treated for her alleged offense and she continues drinking (and probably driving) she becomes a loaded gun. On the other hand if she continues living on Long Island, and is not allowed to drive, how can she make a living. The public transportation there isn't that good so she'll probably move to Brooklyn or Queens.

Not good, Lauren. What did you think, if I ditch maybe no one will know? C'mon. Thoughts go out to the families of those lost in these unfortunate incidents.
