Some residents are barring the inspectors out of fear that their homes may be condemned or property values adversely affected by the vapor intrusion. Do they think this will just go away? No matter what you try to hide from a potential buyer, if you're a smart buyer/investor, you will have the home tested for a variety of toxins by an inspector. It will cost you a few hundred bucks, but that's better than being stuck with a toxic house that you can't resell.

if these people are looking to sell, a smart buyer will have heard about these potential problems and want to know what steps the owners have taken to assess the health risks
