- Montreal 6 Rangers 2: It only took 24 hours for the Rangers to lose their momentum again. Then again, maybe they were a bit tired from Wednesday night’s win. Whatever the reason, they made far too many mistakes and gave up way too many chances in their own end. A lesser team might have been unable to capitalize on those mistakes, but Montreal is a good team and they pounced all over them. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead and they cruised home to an easy win, blitzing Henrik Lundqvist with 39 shots in the process.
- Devils 3 Philadelphia 2 (Overtime): New Jersey tied things up late in the third thanks to a goal from Patrik Elias and then he provided the game-winner in overtime.,
- Washington 5 Islanders 2: The Islanders made a nice comeback, battling back from a 2-0 deficit, but the Capitals blew things open with a three-goal third period.

The Isles need to lobby with the league to eliminate the Third Period. If they could do that, they'd be a more than satisfactory club (not that they play satisfying nowadays anyway....)
Anytime I watch the Islanders it seems like the other team has 8 skaters. 5 of those skaters are always in front of the net....
Well, at least with the Isles you can point to a lot of young, inexperienced guys. What's the Rangers' excuse? Oh right, a physical game against the Pens the night before.
Poor Henrik left hung out to dry over and over again, while Roszival stands still and the others pokecheck like they went to the Poti School of Defense.
Awful.
The Isles aren't "entirely" inexperienced, though they are mostly. They've really been hit hard by injuries to big players in the early part of the season: DiPietro, Sillinger, Witt, Sutton, Martinek. And then youngsters, too: Okposo, Nielsen, Bergenheim, Tambellini.
It's going to be a looong season as always for the Isles. At least MacDonald in goal is a bright spot for the first two periods of every game.
