I know why the shootout was brought in. It is lame and hasn't done that much to broaden the appeal of the game. The playoffs are far more interesting when teams play until someone wins-not by lining up players as if it were a pick up game. Yawn

The shootout was brought in to make OT more exciting. The fact that the league can't seem to uniformly enforce the new set of rules is a separate issue.

Are we really going to have to listen to people talking about the Knicks signing LeBron for almost another two whole years? News flash: they blow. How about we lead with the team that isn't an embarrassment?

The shootout is so fucking lame... A minor league gimmick brought in to pump up the action in a game. There are still plenty of 3-2, 2-1 snoozefests, complete with tons of clutching and grabbing with no penalties. Boring
