Bloomberg Snarks About Plaxico Shooting

Mayor Bloomberg made it very clearly earlier this week that he wants to throw the book at Plaxico Burress, who accidentally shot himself with his illegal gun (Bloomberg hates illegal guns!). And he's probably less thrilled, now that it seems the Giants didn't contact the police about the shooting either. But he's having some fun with it: The Post has video of Bloomberg making a joke related to the incident.

After Governor Paterson introduced and thanked the Mayor for attending, pointing out that Bloomberg could have been elsewhere, the Mayor opened with, "Of course, I don't have to be here. I could be at a Giants game, but I am probably safer here at the moment." Okay, it's not that funny--we'd have preferred him to work in the whole "gun in sweatpants" angle--but he does get points for being pissy!
