Taking Bets: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Vs. Constitution

120308clinton.jpgAccording to some annoying clause in the Constitution, Hillary Clinton (pictured) cannot be secretary of state because she was a member of the Senate during a time when the salary for secretary of state was increased. It's called the "Emoluments Clause," and previous administrations, starting with Nixon, have gotten around it by simply passing a bill reducing the salary to its previous level. Senate Democrats are working on that, but according to the Times, it's unclear whether they can pass it during a lame-duck session next week. Judicial Watch insists Obama should drop Clinton like a bag of dirt and "select someone who is eligible for the position." But let's face it, one pesky Constitutional clause has about as much of a shot at surviving the Clintons as David Gest had in court against Liza Minelli. Thank you!

All three branches routinely wipe their ass with the constitution.

wow she had a big head back then.

Specifically, Article I, section 6 of the U.S. Constitution provides "No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time."

but sinc HRC is a SHE, clearly this rule doesn't apply.

nitpickin' bastards.

Those are some sexy ass pants. They frame her love triangle so tantalizingly.

well... whatever. She was probably not there when they voted because she was too busy running for president. Its such a farce anyway, why not be a bigger one then?

"this one time at band camp...."

What's the big deal? There's a fair chance that Obama was born in Kenya and/or gave up his US citizenship to get an Indonesian passport so he could travel in Pakistan and also get foreign student tuition at Columbia. Of course he could clear this up in 2 seconds by producing the required documents but he didn't when the Philadelphia court ordered him to, thus legally admitting to the charges. Anyway, the Supreme Court will decide on this eventually even if the media studiously attempt to bury the story.

Constitution? Qu'est-ce que c'est?

lol, Ides, you wingnut. Give it up already.

Ides, do some reading. He was born in Hawaii, it's all OK, pumpkin. Go get a cookie and a nap.

Those pants are terrific. My sister had those pants, and she was the coolest big kid I knew back then.

Keep it up, Ides. Nothing funnier than to laugh at someone else's stupidity. Tell me you were the kid in school the nerds and geeks beat up. It's Ide's atomic wedgie time!

Those were her "recital pants". The blouse? Probably a gift from an old alcoholic.
