The Queens DA's officer announced that a cop faces assault charges after beating a pedestrian who was crossing Queens Boulevard. Last month, Geoffrey Hollinden was crossing the treacherous 12-lane road at 109th Street when, the NY Times reports, a car driven by off-duty narcotics cop Jamel Dennis nearly hit him. "Hollinden pounded on the car... as it passed," then Dennis got of his car and "dragged [Hollinden] to the boulevard’s service road, lifted him to shoulder height and slammed him to the ground, knocking him unconscious." Hollinden was hospitalized for days, with injuries including cranial bleeding and herniated disc. An eyewitness had copied the car's license plate number, but Dennis had claimed he was pushed in a dispute (when asked for a comment, he just said, "That's their side of the story"). Other off-duty cop road rage incidents: In August, two were charged with gang assault and, last year, one fatally shot a man. Photo: Stephen Sandoval/PursueBliss.com on Flickr

What's "road road assault"?
NYpigD assaulting citizens & Novanglus has nothing better to post than an asshole-ish grammar complaint. STFU.
wtf is wrong with some of these cops? They are loose cannons.
STFU? Gesundheit.
It was an honest question. Maybe there was another reference I was unfamiliar with because I'm not a follower of internet pop culture.
And you're right...there's nothing better to post in this boring, typical story.
FBI needs to take over NYPD, too much corruption and too much loose cannons.
Lucky for this guy the cop/perp wasn't in a uniform and with 3-4 of his buddies to back him up. If it had happened that way, he would have been recuperating in a jail hospital and facing felony assault-on-an-officer charges (of the "hitting the officer in the fist with your face" variety). Lots of power, low pay, and no accountability is a recipe for this kind of shit.
Well, if this guy is an undercover narc, he's not too good at keeping his cover.
I believe the idea is to keep a low-profile and beating up annoying pedestrians tends to draw attention to oneself.
I agree that police work often requires a certain amount of brawn and muscle, but a little brainpower would be nice too.
The Police protect us from the bad guys. But who protects us from the Police?
FBI?? hahaahahah..
ny's finest. im sure the guy had it coming and we're better off with him off the streets. banging on a car for nearly hitting him! whos ever heard of such outrageous behavior in new york?!
Whats this guy complaining about? Its not like he got a night stick shoved up his ass.
Any description of the perp/cop?
Maybe police officers act like this to compensate for, um, personal inadequacies? NYPD = New York Pencil Dicks?
Did the off duty officer offer CPR to his victim? Courtesy, Professionalism, Respect? No he probably did the normal NYPD response, Cocksucking Prick Retribution.
BTW, if a car narrowly misses you, what good does it do to pound on it? For a lot of people that's an invitation to a rage incident. That's not in any way to suggest the cop was in the right: he's a crimminal now and should really be prosecuted for attempted murder.
I don't get it. If the driver/cop was Asian and the guy that got beat down was black wouldn't that be a bias incident?
