NYC Holiday Office Parties Down 65%

TheOfficeChristmas.jpgDid you hear? The office party's been cut from the budget, according to a poll by FreshDirect & BizBash. This means that drunken coworker makeout, drunken coworker karaoke, and drunken telling your boss off will also be down to an all time low. Just how low? More than 65% of New York businesses are eliminating or scaling back on holiday parties this year, according to the survey of more than 200 event professionals in New York City. Of course, FreshDirect also has a solution to the problem: use their "At The Office" service to cut down on costs and party it up in your cubicles! Last month a catering company told ABC News that the drop-off in business is the worst it's been since post-9/11 2001. Oh well, take a break and watch a clip from The Office's season 3 Christmas special.

It's always a party when you got a bottle in the drawer.

I could never relax at an office party. You can't let your hair down and enjoy a few drinks around people you work with. I'd much rather go pay for my own drinks at a favorite bar with friends instead of people I simply share an employer with.

It's always great to be with someone you don't like and watch them get drunk.

BYOB holiday party...

My company called it the "Winter Event" one year instead of a holiday party.

any company that received bailout money should not have any holiday parties and no bonuses as well.

Oh for God's sake. I mean, oh for Whatever Entity You Worship Or Don't Worship's sake.

no joke, mine went from the waldorf astoria last year to the 3rd floor cafeteria. seriously.

Here at my office, where we actually provide a useful service to our clients rather than just move money around, we're still having a holiday party.

Of course, we don't waste money by having our party at the waldorf astoria, either.
