phpHNcHA0AM.jpgMOVIE: BAMcinematik's series Punk 'n' Pie (aw) continues tonight with Derek Jarman's late 70s movie Jubilee, which follows Queen Elizabeth I as she "travels to late twentieth-century Britain to discover a tawdry and depressing landscape where life mostly seems aimless and is anyway held cheap." Look out for The Slits, Siouxsie Sioux, Adam Ant, and Brian Eno (the latter provides original music for the film).

6:50 and 9:15 p.m. // BAM Rose Cinemas [30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn] // $11

THEATER: Taking Over, Danny Hoch's new solo show about gentrification turbulence in Williamsburg, is getting rave reviews. Martin Denton says "Hoch's work as both writer and actor here is superb: he gives us characters whose authenticity is unassailable, and he frames them within a show that never fails to entertain as it edifies and prods and pokes us." Big Ben Brantley at the Times calls it "a fiery polemical portrait gallery of a play" and loves Hoch’s "rendering of the rap artist and revolutionary known as Launch Missiles Critical, who hopes to enlist like-minded malcontents while performing at the Galapagos Art Space." And here's our interview with Hoch. – John Del Signore

2 p.m. and 8 p.m. // The Public Theater [425 Lafayette St] // Tickets

COMEDY: Whether you know him from one of his many film and television roles (including TBS's My Boys) or for his comedy, pick up your tickets for one of Jim Gaffigan's upcoming NYC shows. He kicks off the six night run at Town Hall this evening. Earlier this month he told us he called it The Sexy Tour "because I think it’s hysterical how sexy is used as an attribute to sell things that are exceedingly not sexy--like sweatpants."

8 p.m. // Town Hall [123 W 43rd St] // $45

MUSIC: Stuff yourself sonically with a full lineup before hitting the turkey tomorrow. Tonight Happy Anarchy, El Ten Eleven, Castanets and Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson are all at the Bell House.

8 p.m. // The Bell House [149 7th St, Gowanus] // $8
