Did Liz Lemon Leave a Misleading Trail of Cupcake Crumbs?

2008_11_30rock.jpgThe blog Eat Me Daily posted a video clip yesterday from the opening of Thursday's 30 Rock where Gavin Volure, the eccentric billionaire played by Steve Martin asks what the good cupcake spots are in New York. Tina Fey's food crazy Upper West Sider Liz Lemon quickly fires back, "77th and Amsterdam, 68th and Columbus, 125th and President Clinton Boulevard." The blog noted that the uptown Magnolia Bakery is actually at 69th and Columbus, but they weren't aware of anywhere at 77th and Amsterdam. Could she have been talking about Crumbs on 75th and Amsterdam? And while we know that there's no President Clinton Boulevard (yet), could Lemon have meant Make My Cake on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd? Not to be all cupcake conspiracy theorist, but maybe Fey was trying to maintain her cupcake credibility without blowing up all her favorite spots. Why else would she not have mentioned Soutine?

Or, you know, a fictional show with fictional characters might mention the fictional locations of fictional cupcake shops. Just a thought.

Magnolia and Crumbs are way overrated...I'd like to think Liz Lemon has better taste than to favor either of them.

The English language does not contain enough words to fully convey my lack of interest in this.

that's fucking interesting, man

god bless gothamist commenters.

hahah

No your fat, lazy lifestyle gave you diabetes.

Magnolia has the worst cupcakes, I can't understand why people think those are so tasty, they must not have taste buds. I want Magnolia to shape up or CLOSE. I have never been so passionate about baked goods but that place really pisses me off. Most cupcake shops don't know what they are doing. I heard buttercup wasn't bad. I find Crumbs to be pretty good, at least the cupcakes have taste. Ok ... I'm done

You really didn't give this story enough ink or as large a headline that it deserves.

Most pathetic story EVER.

Ugh, you are too late with this story! I already wasted an entire weekend following Liz Lemmon's directions trying to get some cupcakes but when
I showed up at these locations, THERE WERE NO CUPCAKES! I suggest a class action.

And where's that place Elaine said has the best cupcake tops?

This is all well and good, but I was hoping for the real scoop about the best place to invest my confederate dollars.

When will this dumbass cupcake trend end?

@NannyState, that would be muffin tops at the fictional "Top of the Muffin to You!"
