Junior Gotti Loves New York... For His Trial

2008_11_jrgot.jpgJohn Gotti Jr., who was arrested over the summer on racketeering charges, is fighting to move the trial, currently set for Tampa, to New York. The Daily News reports that Gotti's lawyers claim transporting and housing numerous witnesses would cost $50,000, "It would be a crushing financial burden for the family. The government can afford to take the case to New York to make sure that one of its citizens gets a fair trial." However, a federal prosecutor explained why say Tampa is appropriate, "This is where Gotti elected to plant the Gambino family flag," in hopes of expanding the business. Of course, New York is also where three trials against Gotti Jr. ended in mistrial. The two sides await the judge's decision.
