THEATER: Using a wide variety of video, puppetry, sound and robotics—many hidden inside the dozen-plus suitcases that litter the downstairs stage at P.S. 122—Joe Silovsky unpacks the fascinating true story of the American investor who lost millions of dollars entrusted to him by the South Pacific island of Tonga. Called Jester of Tonga, the one-man show hardly feels solo, given the wide array of hand-made machines that share the spotlight with their creator. Obscene Jester writes: "He emerges from the side door as though he accidentally wandered in off the street, clad in t-shirt and jeans, and performs and weaves his stories as would an uncle who’s been asked to tell an impromptu tale of his days in The ‘Nam." And here's our full review. – John Del Signore
