Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats: A Sneak Peek

Macy's Parade Studio in Hoboken opened its doors yesterday for children from various New Jersey elementary schools to get a preview of this year's eight new floats and four new giant helium balloons. Disney's new Bolt movie was represented, but the real star was a freaky display of Woodland creatures celebrating the first Thanksgiving. (Or celebrating their first acid-fueled orgy?) And if you grew up on the Smurfs, you'll be happy or appalled to know there will be a giant Smurf balloon along with a whole Smurf village float, all celebrating the 50th Smurf-iversary. They really are that old! Here's the official site for the parade.

Bolt is Walt Disney Animation Studios, not Disney/Pixar. Wall-E was Disney/Pixar.

I'm always a little disturbed at all the happy cartoon turkeys that appear every year. It's like the turkey is the one character not in on the joke.

i can't wait to see bolt, that hamster was hysterical at the short before hsm3.

I'm all for hisorical accuracy, but perhaps having the pilgrim fox coiled and ready to maul and eat the little Native American Dramatic Prairie Dog is a bit much.

The city's economy is tanking, but there exists money to pay for civil servants to work this parade? If they want to impose a surcharge on a plastic bag, then can sure as hell stop the fucking parades in this town.

The celestial one is beautiful (even if the moon is depressed)! And who knew they painted by numbers? Cool stuff.

#7,if I'm not mistaken Macy's and their sponsors pay for this parade thus paying for all overtime of city employees (don't worry your taxes are safe) not to mention the amount of revenue this parade generates with the over 1MM people it attracts and the over 50 million viewers on TV. I hardly doubt the city is playing for any of this.

So Keith Haring hits the big time now that he's gone huh?

@edEx Hey great! Let us give thanks for all that we don't have and all that we will have to pay out in the upcoming year! Yippee here comes Santa Claus...

^ not sure why that was directed towards me. :)
