TSOL/Henricus:

Can I come work in your offices? I'm a girl who has a space heater running and several layers on because our building insists on keeping the temperature at 65 at all times.

Steam heat is fine -- anyone with a house heated by steam manages to keep the temp at a human level. The issue is old systems and lazy-ass supers who just leave the things burning all night. There is no reason for radiators and pipes to be fully stoked for hours on end -- heat them up for a little while and then let them chill.

A freaking home thermostat, with timer and all the bells and whistles, costs $80 bucks at home depot -- surely landlords could spring for something to control their oil costs! Morons.

PS - My sister's buidling in Philly is just as old as my UWS place - and their heat is never set to thermonuclear levels. Maybe it's time to feed our supers some cheesesteaks!

People complaining about the heat, it's just the nature of steam heat that it's too damn hot all winter. I don't think I have the right to wear a sleeveless top in January, I just do it because otherwise I'd be swimming in a pool of sweat! Steam heat only seems to have one possible temp: way too frickin' hot.

haha, TSOL...I thought that was just my office. I try to wear a blazer to work and nearly asphyxiate. In all seriousness though, this city is kept about 10 degrees to hot. Although I really have to question our landlord not turning on the heat for the last two nights...

Bloomberg's right- this is the most overheated city in the world, with no small thanks going to the city for forcing landlords to have the heat running from Oct-April. We have to sleep with the window cracked open to avoid steaming to death when the radiators come on every night.

Plus the women in my office think it's their God-given right to wear sleeveless tops in the office in January, which means all red-blooded men have to have fans running at their desks and can't wear anything heavier than an oxford shirt because the office is heated to 80 degrees.

Actually who wears sweaters anymore in the house? One wears sweat shirts and hoodies, but sweaters? Bloomberg has to talk to Mr. Rodgers to find out what the current look is in sweaters. Unfortunately the good man Fred died five years ago and the dumb short man at city hall hasn't realized it yet.

Try to stay somewhat up to date Mayor Mike. Knowing you never were really up to date from the time you left grade school.

"Mayor Bloomberg's advice for saving money on heating bills? Turn down the thermostat a few degrees and wear a sweater."

Well here is mine. Regulate those motherfucker's in the oil industry to stop making billions on the backs of the working man. TAX THEM UNTIL THEY MAKE A REASONABLE RETURN NOT THE SHIT THEY ARE RAPING THE POPULACE!

Bloomberg is an asshole. I use to like him but he is caught up in his own hype. He should marry Donald Trump and live happily ever after with him in Dubai.
