After a morning full of messages reporting delays, LIRR's announcement email list now reports things are back to "on or close."

Honestly LIRR service has has improved greatly over the past 5 years. Issues like these are somewhat rare nowadays.

Even though many of them are bilking the system, the train system as a whole is far more efficient than Metro North. Metro North has problems unique to them.

The LIRR ALWAYS has some kinds of problems. They should learn from Metro North on how you're suppose to run a railroad.

Also, the Port Jeff train took the Babylon train's lunch money and called it a wuss in front of all the other trains.

Second delay this week and it's only Wednesday.

And the fare is going up!

The LIRR is run by incompetent morons, in a culture steeped in corruption. see: pension scam.

What I don't understand is that if the majority of Long Islanders are rather well off, why don't they band together and complain loudly enough to their representatives such that the LIRR is actually fixed? If I were paying $250 a month for this garbage service, damn right I'd be pissed.
