Paterson Calls State Lawmakers "Out of Touch"

2008_11_dpat1.jpgGovernor David Paterson, frustrated by not getting a deal for the state's troubled budget before today's special Legislative session, described state lawmakers as being "out of touch," according to NY1. Paterson said, "Looking at Albany, and Albany not being able to cut $2 billion off of a $15 billion problem that has to be addressed in four months is more than irresponsible, it doesn't make any sense." He is particularly unhappy with Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R), who will introduce Paterson's unpopular budget cuts for a vote without offering any ideas of his own for cuts. For the record, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver didn't offer any ideas for budget cuts either, and Paterson told the Post, "I'm not going to take the blame if we come out of the session without a budget-cutting package."

What a pussy. Do what the President does when you run huge deficits, spend twice the money. Cowboy up, Bum-Eyes!

"Time to tar and feather all of Albany starting with that verminous sleazeball Sheldon Silver."

I'm with you on that one.

It's so easy to say ALL politicians are weasels, but Paterson has been up front to the public about the crisis and what must be done about it, despite the pain he knows it will cause.

The fact the rest of Albany will not put up nor shut up makes them weasels.

Basically all politicians are out of touch. This is why we need really strict term limits so people go do their civic duty then go get a real job.

    From a recent movie:

"he's the hero Gotham deserves...but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a dark knight."

  • Someone should take the deficit cuts out of their salaries

yeah just like the presidents and ceo's of companies do all the time... the issue here is, none of the people making over 250k a year give a rats ass about anybody under them—it's pathetic.

the very reason for this horrific recession is all of the over 250k people, the war in iraq, deregulation, right wing democrats (in congress) and psychotic gop'ers

I don't think Paterson can see what the real problem is.

Paterson is out of touch with the Internet. Repeal the Amazon tax!

Keeping it real. This is why I heart Paterson.
