Post Offers "Peanut Butter Ploy" in Long Island Murder

2008_11_lwalsh10.jpgUgh: The already distressing case of the murdered school teacher Leah Walsh (pictured) got a little more disturbing. Police, who believe that Walsh was killed by her husband who staged her disappearance to cover up the crime, apparently found the 29-year-old naked body with peanut butter slathered on it, according to the Post. The Post's sources suggest that suspect William Walsh used the peanut butter in hopes "that wild animals would get rid of the evidence." And a waitress admits to having an affair with William Walsh a year ago (Police believe the couple may have been arguing over his infidelities before the killing), but insists, "Just because I had a past with him doesn't mean I know anything." Walsh is currently in custody.
UPDATE: Newsday is reporting that "the NY Post was wrong" about the peanut butter story and that the autopsy of Leah Walsh found that "there were absolutely no food products or accelerants applied to the body of the victim. "

Peanut butter

That is messed up.

This is unfortunate. It's already horrible that this great life was shortened by this horrible man. Now the media will add the indignity of peanut butter slathering? Can't she have receive some dignity in death? Let's leave these details out of the media.

The media shouldn't selectively limit what they do and don't want to publish, what would the rules be, where would the lines be? If you don't want to hear about it, don't read it.

Jesus, it wasn't bad enough that this guy is a cheating, loser POS that murdered his wife, now this noxious little detail comes out. Can someone in lockup put a ziplock over his guy's head?

That is one sick f*ck! Lock him up and throw away the key, please.

I vote for tying him to stakes on top of a colony of fire ants. Slathering him with honey first would be optional.

I agree, but gov regulation is no solution. We need to count on the good taste of journalists, please hold the laughter. And the good sense of readers and viewers to say no to poor taste.

That said the truth about crimes like this matters. The truth matters period, in all it's uglyness. People are murdered and we say they "passed away." The diluting of reality with dishonest language or exclusion of facts delays improvment and progress. If we don't know the realities of our world how do we fix what is wrong.

For this family that has harsh personal realities I don't dismiss lightly. But how many people have been motivated to seek help for themselves after someone bravely comes forward with a personal story about being a victim or mental illness. Just a thought

this dude is dumb. You are suppose to cut the body up into little bitty parts and then feed them into a blender then flush all the goop down into the toilet seat. Finish off with 5 gallons of bleach and done. That's what Dexter would do.

Instead of dissolving the body, dissolve the marriage

Leave it to the Post. I'm surprise Andrea Peyser hasn't latched on to this by now. Although for all we know she just had to shred tomorrow's column.

They are just as bad as TMZ.

I would never want to censor the media or limit the press and I regretted my comments. But as a father, I feel awful for her family. They had to suffer this terrible loss, and now they have to endure the entire process in minute detail in the media.

I really hate William Walsh for being such a coward and killing his wife instead of killing himself. You're the cheat, Walsh, and the guilt and the knowledge of what a piece of dog-turd you are made you kill her. You should have been man enough to accept responsibility.

Dexter dumps them in the bay. Well, not anymore.

The New York Post is so cute when they try to act like a real live newspaper. I just get the urge to give them some banana slices, tickle them under the chin, and sit them down to watch cartoons.

I just really want to know how someone comes to the conclusion that killing is a solution. Did he really believe that he would get away with it? Of all the married couples I know, I don't believe any of them would even think to weigh the pros/cons of murder versus divorce much less choose the former!

The NY Post wrong? No way!

Adding jelly would have done the job.

I doubt he said to himself let me kill my wife and figure out how to get away with it. He was probably in the heat of the moment and lost it when she called him out on his affairs.

Peanut, peanut butter...and jelly.
