Pencil This In
MUSIC: Attack Release, Ford & Fitzroy (pictured) and Vulture Realty are at the new Webster Hall subterranean venue (The Studio) tonight. Why should you attend? To help celebrate Ford & Fitroy's debut CD release, that's why! We've been fans of the band since, well, before they even had a CD apparently.
8 p.m. // The Studio at Webster Hall [125 E 11th St] // $8-10
THEATER: A hit at the 2006 Fringe festival, Vice Girl Confidential is a spoof of noir B-movies from the '50s that has apparently gotten "some of the greatest rave reviews ever posted on nytheatre.com." Described as "an exposé not for the faint of heart," the story plays up "the grime and grit plaguing the seedy streets of 1950s Gotham. Only one man, D.A. Walter Slade, can stand up to vice-racket kingpin Duke Craigie—that is, if he can shake off his yen for Stella Fontaine, the madam of New York’s most infamous brothel." Danny Bowes writes, "I literally laughed so hard that I missed whole parts of scenes." – John Del Signore
8 p.m. // Under St. Marks [94 St. Marks Place] // $18
COMEDY: CollegeHumor presents their final Live NYC comedy show of 2008 tonight. "This time, CollegeHumor's Streeter Seidell and Patrick Cassels will host. The lineup includes comedians Arj Barker ("Flight of the Conchords," "The Marijuanalogues"), Derrick Comedy's Donald Glover, Stuckey and Murray (VH1, Montreal Comedy Festival) and more."
9:30 p.m. // UCB Theater [307 W 26th St] // $5
EVENT: The Mr. Lower East Side Pageant is taking place tonight, and Reverend Jen's hosts the legendary event. "All females and gay men in the audience are judges. 60-second talent competition, 60-second swimsuit competition, evening wear and Q&A competition. The more bizarre the better. You do not have to live in the Lower East Side to win. You must embody what the Lower East Side stands for (used to stand for?)." So, like, if THOR is your go-to weekend hang, you need not apply.
10 p.m. // Bowery Poetry Club [308 Bowery] // $5
