SNL Gets New Cast Members, MADtv Gets Cancelled

phpdUmgpePM.jpgSince Amy Poehler had to go and get knocked up, and Tina Fey's return was only temporary, Saturday Night Live has been left with a severe shortage of female cast members. The NY Times reports that two new lucky ladies, Michaela Watkins and Abby Elliott (Chris's daughter), have been added--and they've got awfully big heels (and Palin wigs) to fill. If you're guessing that one of these women might be a minority (perhaps to play the ongoing role of Michelle Obama?)...guess again. Lorne Michaels has, once again, shunned the idea by adding two more white women (pictured). There are supposedly still additional cast members on the way however, and with MADtv now canceled in the midst of its 14th season, maybe Lorne can scavenge from their diverse talent pool?

The lack of black cast members is dissapointing.

awesome! I love chris elliot, she's gotta be funny

Which brings us to the conclusion - Chris Elliot must have a really hot wife.

"He puts Armistan's Obama to shame and he's from NYC too."

That was pretty awesome, but just because you do a good impression doesn't mean you deserve a spot on SNL.

It's a sad comment that we have a black president being played by a white dude in black-face on the nation's main popular vehicle for political satire.

Too bad - as MAD TV was the funnier and better produced of the 2 programs.

You don't see the MAD TV performers clearly reading cue cards, as happens in every single sketch of SNL.

Mad TV used to be quite cool and very edgy (compare to SNL) back in the late 90's and early '00s.

It started to suck around 2004 or so (when the original cast was completely gone) and never truly came back up.

Good riddance!

what can you do? black people arent really that funny. and a funny black woman is real hard to come by.

wait.

this "Saturday Night Live" show wasn't just a special event for the Presidential Election?

people watch this aforementioned show otherwise?

#7- Armisen isn't white.

Actually he's quite the mutt.

#5, I was thinking the same thing. Either she looks just like her mother or her mother is just as odd looking as Chris and they canceled each other out.

I remember when chris elliot's girlfriend lived in hell's kitchen. when they won an emmy they showed it off by bringing it with them to the food emporium.
she's not that attractive, same with larry david's wife. they met at their workplace, not uncommon with regular looking guys. ie, fred the martian norris, ba ba booey etc.
this was when chris's recurring skit was the man under the stairs, letterman was with NBC then.

Sadly, Bobby Lee wasn't enough to support MadTV, even though he was in 50% of the bits. Michael McDonald (that's his name, right) did the same characters ad nauseum (no, not Stewart again!) The show got stale long ago. Debra Wilson, Will Sasso: that sh*t was funny. I won't miss it too much.

Chris Elliot did some really edgy stuff. The appearances on Letterman were creepy. He was creepy, really unsettling, and therefore really funny. When he drank the bottle of cooking oil or ate the tin of dog food, that was so messed up.

MadTV was still going? That show was terrible.

#18, at least he moved away from his creepy persona when he starred as a 35 year old paper boy who lived with his parents in "Get A Life."

Mad tv had some funny skits. But snl has always been more creative and intelectually funny.

Why is this shit still on? Who's watching?

Lorne Michaels is totally a racist (is that right?) the guy who gave eddie murphy his start??? I dont know but maybe its just a lack of talent (but on the other side isnt the current cast devoid of talent?)

snl is gonna suck again. it's gonna be like the eighties. joe piscapo, robin duke, another fat guy to replace another overweight guy.
