Police suspect that the fatal shooting of a Meals on Wheels deliveryman at Brooklyn's Brownsville Houses yesterday morning may have been prompted by a robbery attempt. The Daily News reports that Emanuel Aminov's "wallet was found empty near the body, leading investigators to believe that robbery was the motive for the lethal ambush." His wife told the NY Times, "He was delivering food to poor people, and they shot him down."
Aminov, who immigrated from Tajikistan two decades ago and lived in East New York, was previously a livery driver; he worked for the Jewish Association for Services of the Aged as a floater, someone who filled in for others drivers during Meals on Wheels deliveries. He had just delivered food to Gertie Johnson, 73, before someone fired a shot into his chest. Johnson heard the shot and asked her granddaughter, "Was that a shot?"
Another resident, Tashia Dunbar, 15, told the Post, "I heard one shot, then a lady crying. She was screaming, 'He brings me breakfast!' I came down, and I saw the guy. He was hit in the stomach... just laying there, not moving. He was unconscious.... It's shocking. I ran upstairs and called the ambulance." Aminov later died at Brookdale Hospital.
Aminov's sister and nephew claim he was afraid of going tot he Brownsville Houses (his sister added she wanted his killer "to be punished for the rest of his life"). The police are looking for a black man in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. There is also surveillance camera footage, but it's unclear how much of the shooting was caught on film. A neighbor lamented to the Times, "They bring nice meals — chicken, beef stew, all kinds of things. They can’t go around killing people like that. It’s a depressing day. It’s crazy.”

Savage animals don't care about decency. The person who did this would as easily shoot a nun, an old woman in a wheelchair or a small child. No remorse and none should be shown to him. Perhaps a decent policeman will take him to the roof of the same building and toss him off. His screams will be a symphony.
Wasn't it understood that all of this would stop once Obama became President?
Right now I'm giving the "hooded sweatshirt guy" a "why can't you be more like Obama" glare.
Such a tragedy. My condolences to the family.
Also, relating every story and crime back to Obama is getting really old, really fast.
First, Obama is not president yet, educate yourself. Second, why would senseless violence stop because of a president. You can't educate people who don't want to or can't be educated. Obama is not a cure all to black violence or violence in general. The killer most likely didn't vote so he can care less Obama is black. But lets thank Bush for the high employment rate that is causing many people to do desperate things today for money! Oh yeah, let's thank him for the loose gun laws too.
#5 - They're just being snarky.
Sociologically I suppose it makes sense due to strained socio-economic blah blah..institutionalized blah blah.. But goddamn should this son of a bitch be executed in a town square, slowly.
As the economy tanks, crime will get worse. Let's hope Obama picks the right advisors so that we can end this mess. Good riddance Dubya.
Shooting a Meals on Wheels volunteer is about the lowest form of crime imaginable. This is really sad. Don't people have a shred of humanity?
As the economy tanks, crime will get worse.
It's how it goes. Just is. Visualize peace and prosperity for all.
Brownsville is disgusting.
Hmm. I guess someone wanted to buy a pair of Air Jordans. Fucking asshole.
The thug probably doesn't know who Obama is or who is the current president.
Don't be a buffoon, Tar Baby. This is a tragedy. Here was someone doing good for our community, struck down by some animal. The animal didn't see race or ethnicity, just quick money. Throw him in a hole.
Oh, he probably heard about Obama. But it doesn't matter. To guys like that, Obama's just an Oreo -- black on the outside, white on the inside and not worthy of respect.
I speculated yesterday that it was probably a robbery. The snarky, sarcastic response from TKaisen, "Oh, it's perfectly fine then." I guess some people prefer to believe things in the projects always happen for absolutely no reason.
Clearly a drug addict or gang banger who will eventually get his due. What a waste of a good hearted man. Dismantle the projects- they are unmanageable breeding grounds for all kinds of trouble. Create other types of affordable housing, isn't that what power grabbing mayor bloomie promised?
All of the projects need to be imploded. For the entrenched poor, they provide a secure haven for doing nothing to change their circumstances. They need to change and instead of sitting in front of a TV all day, these folks need the challenge of creating a life for themselves. All the status quo has produced are more sickening stories like this.
The kid who shot him was probably hungry. The real culprit is George Bush because he disenfranchised so many people in America they have no other choice than to go out and fend for themselves whatever way they can.
If these people are already poor, how is the economy going to make things worse for them?
No, Hugo Mego, the real culprit is the shooter.
#18 take a few minutes and think about it.
#19- I already have.
If their ass is already piss-broke, I really fail to see how this economy will make things worse for them.
They're already robbing people as it is.
What, they're going to have to work a double shift robbing people too? So when everyone else will be as piss-broke as they are, who are they going to rob then? People in NJ or CT?
Heaven forbid the east river tolls and fare hike goes into effect, then they won't even be able to cross state lines to rob folks elsewhere.
So what then?
