Day After Meeting with Obama, Bush Arrives in NYC

President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush have arrived in NYC for Veterans Day events. Bush will be awarded the 2008 Intrepid Freedom Award at the USS Intrepid; the award is for "world leaders who embody the ideals of world freedom and democracy." Air Force One landed at JFK Airport, and then the Bushes took a helicopter to the aircraft carrier off Manhattan's West Side.

Yesterday, President Bush and the First Lady met with President-elect Obama and Michelle Obama. Obama asked Bush to aid the auto industry; the NY Times reports, "Mr. Bush indicated at the meeting that he might support some aid and a broader economic stimulus package if Mr. Obama and Congressional Democrats dropped their opposition to a free-trade agreement with Colombia, a measure for which Mr. Bush has long fought, people familiar with the discussion said." Laura Bush gave Michelle Obama a tour of the private residence and Michelle Obama later toured two private schools.

Overall, the visit was described as "good, constructive, relaxed and friendly" by the White House and a "bit of a momentous day" by the office of the President-elect.

So which is she, President Laura Bush, or First Lady Laura Bush?

Ha! She's both, a true Renaissance woman!

Michelle's going to have that 747 looking like Soul Plane in a couple months.

Thanks for the obligatory racist remarks ides of march.

Do you have a quota to fill?

Did you take the extra-stupid pills today, ides?

Ignorant is as ignorant does...

Does anyone else find it hilarious that he's getting a Freedom Award?

Obama is going to be much more astute in front of Air Force One.

Come on, does anyone actually expect better from ides_of_march? Michelle is actually an accomplished woman with impressive credentials, a lot like Hillary. Republican presidents seem to prefer their wives to be stay-at-home mothers. She's probably 50 times more successful than bitter critics like ides will ever be. Somehow, I don't think ides will ever be invited to sit on any board of directors, and not only wasn't he ever an assistant dean, he probably had a hard time getting through college, if he ever did. And, hey, she bought Macbooks for her family, so she's pretty savvy about tech.

Bush was overheard on the Intrepid asking where the Mission Accomplished banner was.

I though it smelled like shit near JFK this morning and on the West side near 45th street this afternoon.

Bush also asked how the concorde was supposed to take off from The Intrepid...what an idiot.

Ides comment was racist. And also a little funny.

Too bad Bush will be gone soon. It will take a lot of getting used to seeing an incompetent in the white house who is all style and no substance. Oh wait, that's what hipsterism is all about! MY BAD!
HALAL MEATS RULE!!!

Hugo & Ides are probably neighbors in some really crappy part of town- that's why they're so angry with successful people, especially successful brown people. Dont hate, brown people are not responsible for your crappy life. Congrats to the new first family!

nycgurl, wasting no time in playing the race card.
WELCOME TO CHOCOLATE CITY, WOOT WOOT!

Whether Obama will be incompetent remains to be seen. For Ides and HUGO, at least Ides is able to comment in a rational and coherent way most of the time. Liberals/Obama supporters please don't associate all conservatives with the likes of HUGO.

HUGO, you troll. Don't you have anything better to do?

Are you trying to deliberately ruin the 'reputation' of those who rationally and consciously have real issues with Obama by being such a jackass?

Just 2 more months seeing Bush in the pubic!

He will probably go back to his Texas ranch and hide out from the pubic. Nobody wants to see his face or want him as a speaker.

Steven- LOL. I think your first post was actually grammatically correct.

Actually BUSH will go to his Paraguay retreat (and Dubai as well).

He is not going back to Texas.
