Meals on Wheels Worker Fatally Shot in Brooklyn

Seriously, WTF: A Meals on Wheel delivery man was fatally shot this morning. WCBS 2 says the "55-year-old victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was gunned down in the lobby of a building in the Brownsville Houses at 341 Dumont Ave." and was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. WABC 7 says he just "rang the bell to Apt. 1D moments before he was shot." Also, the police are "looking for a black male in his 20s wearing a hooded sweatshirt who apparently fled the scene."

"the police are "looking for a black male in his 20s wearing a hooded sweatshirt" That should narrow the search to about 8,000 thugs.

Are those animals for real out there. Tear down the projects with the occupants in them, but first release anyone over forty and under five.

Racism? What racism? Just because Snoopy hates all black people but will make grudging exceptions for the very young and the very old doesn't necessarily mean he's a closeted KKK member who's still bitter that things aren't as they were in his youth, before the "coloreds" got civil rights.

I bet the creep thought the worker was a regular delivery driver and was hoping he'd be carrying cash from other deliveries.

Spit76 you should get a job with the FBI with your forensic skills. Those project thugs would kill a person for a stick of gum.

I know I hit a sensitive spot when I said projects since you live in one yourself. Also it's not only blacks that live in projects, so I am not racist when I say tear down the projects.

On a closing note, I like Obama, but then again he's only half black. Is that what you want me to say?

Don't worry Snoopy. Some of us actually saw your point and who it was (and wasn't) directed at.

No surprise here. Mark my words... there is going to be an increase of this crap ten-fold as more people become unemployed! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Can everyone spell chaos?

any news on that Chinatown travel agency robbery?
the news said they made out with $20K cash. and they have surveillance tape.
God Bless the Projects.

I live in East Bushwick and, though there are no projects close by, everyone (and I do mean everyone) seems to wear a hoodie regardless of the weather. Hood up, of course. My super favorite that one guy wears daily is white with multi-colored guns and brass knuckles all over it. He could be the nicest guy ever, but it just screams "I did it!". I'm pretty sure he bought it at 'Hood Luv' on Bushwick Ave.

Nice one gangstas. Your plans to starve your home-bound neighbors to death might actually work.

Sell. The. Projects.

Quick, before Hugo Mego gets here... It's all Obama's fault!!

Sad story.
I hope they find the killer.

I'm sure the guy thought he was being robbed and defended himself. Why are people so quick to judge?

So, Snoopy, how's that job search going? Are you tired of hearing "Get this senile old coot out of my office!" yet? Why don't you do everyone a favor and sign your "do not resuscitate" order right now?

Don't worry Snoopy. Some of us actually saw your point and who it was (and wasn't) directed at.

Oh? Who wasn't it directed at? Quote: "Tear down the projects with the occupants in them, but first release anyone over forty and under five." Sounds like "Kill all the men, women and children between the ages of 6 and 39 in the projects" to me, unless your understanding of English is different from mine.

Woah, you guys need to decide whom you're going to focus your blame on here. Is it misanthropic "gangstas from the projects?" Or is it the kind of crime where we'll see "an increase of this crap ten-fold as more people become unemployed," as piggames suggests?

Because I'm not sure how you really link one to the other. If the stereotypes about "project people" are true, they weren't gainfully employed in the first place. They're just going to go on "gang-banging" and such without much reference to the macroeconomic cycle we're in.

Of course, I suppose it could have been an unemployed investment banker / disgruntled McCain voter in a hoodie (perhaps also in blackface). Presumably he also shot the meals on wheels worker due to his principled opposition to "socialism" and "spreading the wealth."

My sentiments exactly, Think_twice.

The tragedy is how something like this, based in stupidity, affects levels of volunteerism. Meals on Wheels does such crucially important work, it would be awful if the delivery job developed a dangerous reputation.

I bet the creep thought the worker was a regular delivery driver and was hoping he'd be carrying cash from other deliveries.

Oh, it's perfectly fine then.

Sad thing to be shot over a tray of mac'n cheese and lime jello.

[16] What's your problem? I wasn't justifying it, just speculating on the motivation. Do you have anything constructive to say on the topic, or just wanted to be snarky?

What's the matter Shitof76, now you are speculating rather listening to the voice of reason and observation? Could you send me an invitation for your graduation from middle school or did your teacher hold you back for the tenth time?

SNARKY!? Shithead76 what do you call your comment,"So, Snoopy, how's that job search going? Are you tired of hearing "Get this senile old coot out of my office!" yet? Why don't you do everyone a favor and sign your "do not resuscitate" order right now?"

You are really pathetic. Hopefully the boys in your hood realize that you are an easy mark and they serve you up properly.

So, that's a "No, still can't get a job," I take it. Enjoy your free time. You'll have lots of it. Nobody wants to hire a hotheaded, elderly pottymouth with no marketable skills.

Snarkof76, I really can't figure out why your mother still allows you to use her dial up service when you don't even contribute a part of your earnings from your paper route.

One more thing Shitof76 who says I have to go to work to survive? Ever hear of investing in your future? Renter!

With your brains I bet you will be buying your first studio apartment in a refurbished walk up building in East Williamsburg.

We live in a condition. This kind of story is just routine. They should rope off certain neighborhood and make money off of them as wildlife exhibits.
