Woman, Boyfriend Arrested for Beating Her Son

2008_11_anbad.jpgOn Saturday, a Merrick woman and her boyfriend, a personal trainer, were charged with assaulting her 6-year-old son. Newsday reports that Nassau police knocked on their door and called, but no one answered, so "emergency services officers broke down the door and found the boy crying in a bedroom, with cuts and bruises on his leg, buttocks and groin area." It's believed he was beaten with a weight-lighting belt. Jessica Muniz, 29, is being held on $50,000 bond and Anthony Badalamenti, 31, (pictured) who gained some fame after helping a man lose 186 for The Biggest loser, is being held on $100,000 bond. Their landlord was the one who called; he said he had heard the boy crying for a month, but when he heard screams on Friday, "The child was pleading for mercy. I said, 'That's it, I can't take it anymore.'"

Another thing a child taken by CPA won't have a jolly old time either, I am sure you have heard the horror stories there.

This case however is very extreme and the child should have indeed been taken away.

#3 no ONE is denying that the child was not being abuse, of course he was being abuse and it's awful and the parents deserved their just desserts.

HOWEVER, this growing movement of fascist tattle tale neighbors have been used for the most harmless things (for example such as a parent correcting a child in more humane ways or a couple fighting).

I am looking at the big picture here, and the big picture says that this can be used to tattle tale on neighbors who for example are not "GREEN" enough or smoke etc.

He should be hanged by that weightlifting belt. And the mother should get sterilized. We need a new policy in this country: No conscience, no baby.

  • Future Taliban

    Talk about the "biggest loser".

  • JacqueMehoff

so true, it could of been like family guy's "horten hears a domestic violence in the next apartment and does not call 911" and horton says I'm sure there are two sides to this.

  • theevilone

Glad the landlord called the cops after a month of the kid crying. God forbid you try to get the authorities to intervene before the kid is begging for his life.

  • Jen Chung

Yeah, and I've written my share of mother-killing-children posts, unfortunately.

  • Spirit of 76

You guys are overreacting. If Gothamist was strictly anti-male, they wouldn't have posted that story yesterday of the nutjob who stabbed her guy to death for the crime of not buying their kid a coat.

  • bagelman

i'm not sure what's worse: nightly local news highlighting car accidents, freak deaths, murder, rape and abuse, or gothamist plucking those stories.

  • Kojak

Thats a foolproof plan. I'll do my part!

  • schizofriendly

It's important to take into consideration Shinobi Shaw's viewpoint.

    Nevertheless...

A mother's first responsibility is her child.

I blame her doubly for inviting this Neanderthal into her life. This is a needy individual who seeks being held in high favor of a violent, retarded, steroid-juiced musclehead; someone who gives her some sad something she feels she is deprived of.

A chick who attracts a guy like that generally tends to turn her nose up at an unfashionable potential mate who might actually help be a good parent to her kid.

    Sterilize both of these monkeys.

This boy is clearly in the way of a narcissist's pursuits.

  • JacqueMehoff

what a tough guy, he's the boyfriend, not the father. only the father can beat the kid.

my old man beat the crap out of me. I bet there are still dents in the wall from where I hit my head.

this only made me stronger and realize he's mental.

we still had our father and son bonding moments such as our trips to the track. coming back losers, of course. like father like son.

    I'm not blaming the messengers.

I'm just saying that my thousands of kind, caring and hugely romantic gestures over the years have not made headline news...yet.

  • Tgirl

[8] don't blame the messengers, sadly this stuff is all too common.

However, if women would be just a little more choosy, and a little less dependent on being in a relationship (at any cost apparently), then maybe there would be more good news.

  • Amanda Harletsch

Abuse is not cool or legal. PERIOD!

  • matty

"Jen Chung and Jen Carlson are Militant Feminists trying to push their Anti-Male agenda upon the Yuppie readers of Gothamist Matty. We have to fight back ...somehow."

Let's fight back by playing marvin gaye and romancing our female lady friends :D

  • Dirk

I took my wife out to dinner the other night.

With all these wackos men in the news lately, women may start turning lesbian. The good men will be left with nothing.

  • Mr Mel

It's always the boyfriend because his only interest is the relationship with the mother. This lowlife is no different, the child becomes an annoyance and the torture begins. The mother isn't any better. The child is always better off away from them. His best chances are outside that environment.
