Adrienne Shelly was a huge talent in the Hal Hartley movies, and Waitress showed how deep her talent ran. This was a loss for all of us. Re: public peeing: how come it's okay for folks to let their dogs pee helter skelter, on stoops, on sidewalks, etc., but if my kid has to pee he or she would get in trouble, and I risk getting a ticket. The lack of sensible public restrooms is a real problem in NYC. That said, dudes peeing during the marathon is just funny.

i thought if you had to pee during a marathon then you over-hydrated & don't hardcore racers just pee themselves rather than stop?

They had portapotties along the course. These guys aren't using them, probably because (a) it's a race and (b) it's fun, weeeee. You do make an interesting point that they could maybe design a more race-oriented receptacle for men to pee on. One of the enduring stories of the race is actually how men pee off the Verrezzano bridge.

[3] Not only that, but without cover in broad daylight. I don't care what kind of event you're doing, that's just bad manners for adults and a terrible example to set for kids. They're not even the first. You can see wet spots on the wall where others went before them. So let me get this straight, they can put on this "wonderful" event with incredible organization, but they can't put up a tent with two open ends and a stainless steel collection trough. And what are the female competitors supposed to do, drop their shorts right out in the open?
