Woman Poisoned with Cyanide Dies on Long Island

2008_10_steeves.jpgMaureen Steeves died yesterday at Brookhaven Hospital, days after her husband David Steeves was arrested for poisoning her with cyanide that he allegedly poured in her coffee two weeks ago. It seems likely that a grand jury will now up the attempted murder charges against him to homicide. Steeves pleaded not guilty and was denied bail. He's now being held in isolation in a Riverhead jail. The couple's two teenage sons, whom Steeves shared the web sites where he learned about cyanide with, are staying with their late mother's brother for the time being.

Can someone please come up with an ept murderer test for husbands/boyfriends?! If the stick turns blue-run for your life!!

"hmmmm, maybe if I make long face, people will see that I'm super sad."

Cyanide?! I thought it was burnt almond coffee creamer!

The Montauk Monster has nothing on this creature.

"whom Steeves shared the web sites where he learned about cyanide with"

I'm not sure what that means, and am less sure where it comes from. That information isn't in the linked article, though the article does say that he shared with the boys the home in which the computers where that were used to visit those websites.

Another Long Islander in solitary. That makes 3 so far this week. At this rate there wont be any isolation space left.
