The Bloods on Halloween Slashing Spree?

Living in the South means that on Halloween we have to worry about Meth heads coming out and killing people out of parinoia. It's not often, but if you end up on their property....you may not be seen alive.

If you live in hill country....forget it...you can't go trick or treating because all your neighbors are meth heads and have their land booby trapped so don't drive on their land or you will end up buried under their porch....no joke

The south doesn't have as much of a gang problem as the coast's do...I know when I lived in Boston that some gang activity was near where we lived (Somerville)....

it is called "eating food" the OG (original gangster) tells the ones who are pledging initiation to bring him a plate with # he requires. these initiations in New York were common in the late 90's and even as late as 2004 but under the UBN (United Blood Nation) no real OG would allow or require these initiations. although Halloween and any Friday 13th is known as "Bloody Friday" throughout NYC's Bloods Gang History. and i amposting this because i have actual facts and first hand experience!

I think the rumor underscores the fact that there is gang violence and that the public, understandably, is worried about it. Sure, the details of this rumor seem outlandish, but if you told me gangs would be walking around Williamsburg with machetes, I'd have thought that was outlandish, too.

The point is there is no threat other than the normal everyday dangers of living in NYC.

People are free to live their life in fear of the boogeyman and alter their behavior based on unsubstantiated rumors but it is a sucky way to live.

I just asked the police. They said it's a rumor that has many people worried, but it's unverified and unfounded. They have heard no reports of women in the hospital uptown with slashed faces and they have received no memos warning them of attacks.

They said, "this has rumor has been passed around every year for the last 18 years and nothing has ever come of it."

Funny. I have two unrelated friends who are high ranking officers for the NYPD, in two different boroughs of NYC and both have said that gang initiations are high on their lists of things to watch out for tonight. They did not mention slashing or any particular race, or sex, but they have said to "stay alert."

However, on Snopes, although this particular alert is not on there, all of the news and email alerts about Blood and Crip initiations have been labeled as falsehoods.

I'm pretty sure we will all be ok 2nite. I think the media and police like to do these warning when they know large amounts of people will be gathering in places around the city etc.

@VanessaNYC, no doubt this might all be rumor and innuendo, but with that said, the 25th Precinct in E. Harlem said on the phone yesterday that they advised after school programs in the area to close because of information they were receiving about increased gang activity. As well, the 90th precinct in W'burg just noted on the phone that although they haven't heard of cancellations there, they have beefed up their presence due to concerns they have.

It's arguable, but there are supposedly around 15,000 active members of the bloods, so at 31 each is roughly 465,000 initiation murders.

Otherwise, I think it's safe to throw it in the garbage bin along with warnings about gang initiations involving klling drivers who flash their lights, slashing faces to get $1.50 and killing women at Wal-Mart, among many, many others.
