Desperate times apparently mean desperate people are robbing cemeteries for scrap metal. In this case, MyFox NY reports that the scrap metal comes in the form of grave markers' urns. At George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ, the graves do not have headstones--just plaques which lie flat on the ground. Many have plaques have bronze urns which can be taken out for flowers, and robbers have been sneaking into the cemetery at night and stealing them. They can get $10 for an urn that costs $350 to replace. The police have arrested three people so far. The cemetery is increasing patrols, but MyFox NY pointed out there are still areas for robbers to enter the partially-fenced cemetery.

I have family in that cemetery. Desperate times my butt, these people are all a bunch of meth heads and should be shot on sight.
Unfortunate how desperate economics can drive people to deplorable acts.
This whole bizarre ritual of setting aside real estate for dead people has got to stop. If you want to remember your loved one, look at photographs or perhaps just think about them. The idea that I'm somehow honoring my family by spending thousands of dollars on an exercise in uselessness is stupid.

This isn't that hard to solve. Just check out the scrap metal dealers in the area and find out who is unloading the urns.
It would be appropriate this Halloween for zombies to have their revenge on these nogoodniks.
Cremation is the way to go.
