Three McCain-Endorsing Papers Kicked Off Obama Plane

2008_10_obamaplane.jpgTrick, not treat: Drudge reported that The Washington Times, Dallas Morning News, and the NY Post lost their seats on Barack Obama's campaign plane. Campaign spokesman Bill Burton confirmed it, saying, "We're trying to reach as many swing voters that we can and unfortunately had to make some tough choices. but we are accommodating these folks in every way possible." Washington Times Executive Editor John Solomon said, "This feels like the journalistic equivalent of redistributing the wealth. We spent hundreds of thousands of dollars covering Senator Obama's campaign, traveling on his plane, and taking our turn in the reporters' pool, only to have our seat given away to someone else in the last days of the campaign." Flashback: New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza was excluded from an Obama overseas trip in July, after his critical article about Obama's ascension in Chicago politics (that accompanied that controversial NYer cover) was published?

"Republicans supposedly being christians, all I have to say is, "I am my brother's keeper," remember that, you hypocrites? Sure, stop people from getting abortions in the name of Christ, but when it comes to "when I was hungry you fed me, and when I was naked you clothed me," it's "you're on your own, to hell with you, make your own."

    AMEN cucarachita! AMEN

Republican ethical sense does not go beyond the bible badge. That is the depth of their ethical sense. Of course pretty generous when it comes to diminish the rights of women.

  • cucarachita

Excuse me, but there are a limited amount of seats available, so he has to say no to someone at some point. Get over it.

That line about "the redistribution of seats" or whatever is just so stupid.

FOr that matter, about spreading the wealth around -- isn't that what taxes have always been? Only non-taxpayers should have a problem with the idea of spreading the wealth.

And with all the Republicans supposedly being christians, all I have to say is, "I am my brother's keeper," remember that, you hypocrites? Sure, stop people from getting abortions in the name of Christ, but when it comes to "when I was hungry you fed me, and when I was naked you clothed me," it's "you're on your own, to hell with you, make your own."

And when you're all old and broke and eating dog food because of this economy, you'll be glad to have me around willingly paying my taxes to pay YOUR way, and you won't even thank me for spreading MY wealth, will you, because I'm not white, christian, or republican, and I despise you even though I gladly pay my taxes to help take care of all you bigoted, ignorant pigs.

Because yes, I am my brother's keeper, even if you're my idiot brother.

Hmmm. . . wasn't Obama the "change" candidate? I know I heard the word change somewhere. It was him, right?

  • JacqueMehoff

don't hate the playa, hate the game.

I surely doubt mccain has a much smaller plane. most jets have at least 100 seats. unless Obama has that new Airbus superliner.

    non story and stop whining.

  • longacre

If we're going to compare the two "kicked off the plane" situations, it should be noted that Obama's plane is substantially larger than McCain's, with 30-40 more seats.

  • JacqueMehoff

    you mean "the Messiah"?

  • HUGO_MEGO

Typical neo-lib tactics. People should expect more of this if Obama 'The One' is elected. Obama cult members will do anything to silence non believers. It is absolutely chilling.

  • jbay

boo fucking hoo. fly commercial. Or get reverend moon to rent you a gulfstream.

  • Quenepa

It's his plane - he can bring whoever he wants.

If the Post wants to cover him they can pay for their reporters to fly around.

  • sartre_is_for_lovers

guess high school cafeteria time never ends. no more sittin' at the popular table ~~drama~~

Don't the republicans say that 99% of media outlets are against them?

Republicans are so "good" at editing the information is feed to their hungry for "anti-biased" media that create their own outlets no matter how far away they are from reality.

Taking out of the plane what represents a 4% of the media only hurts those hard core plot feeding republicans. The infamous "plot chaser" here was one of those journalist:

  • texinyc

I can deal with this since there are limited seats, and 2 of those 3 publications are basically a joke in regards to actual journalism.

But I hope that this kind of stuff doesn't continue on into the presidency.

It would be a shame if we continue to see the same kind of policies towards the press that the Bush administration was so fond of continue on into either of the potential new administrations.

Oh, and congratulations to #6 for actually spelling Nacogdoches correctly.

  • Novanglus

    Pretty plane.

  • Steven

Hopefully after election day this nonsense ends.

  • SP

Good for them. They should also stop talking to Fox "News" as it is not a news agency but the official propaganda arm of the Republican party.

  • Sinchy

Why should Obama's campaign accommodate a rag like the NY Post which has been pushing the phony "Acorn is Gonna Steal the Election for Obama" BS Story?

Good for Obama, he is classy and won't drag McCain through the mud, but he is not a pushover!

  • Pull My Finger

    Obama = Pussy Boy

  • RedWhiteandBrooklyn

"Obama can't take the heat. "

That's "President-Elect Obama", Bunky... oh. I'll come back Tuesday night.

  • DevoutNYer

The papers pay for the seat; it's not free. Seat roulette is common on campaign planes.
