I've always admired Seinfeld and loved his show, but seeing him defame Lapine on Letterman left me utterly disgusted. He should have kept his mouth shut. Now he needs to pay out the big bucks.

Well, you poke the 800-pound gorilla with a stick at your peril. That said, Seinfeld is certainly not as funny as he used to be. The proof is in that abortive Microsoft ad campaign only a month ago. Although he did manage to make a killing at $10 million for doing two commercials, so maybe he's just crazy like a fox.

But what was exactly false? That she had three names? He did call her a "wacko".. but is that really defamation? Certainly seems to fit under opinion to me, and you can't defame someone with an opinion. I agree that the infringement suit has merit.

Hey fukkheads: Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most conscientious NY'ers to ever live. He's an excellent neighbor and a great guy. Don't hate him because he's a success while the rest of you morons are anonymous losers. You azzwipes are definitely not sponge worthy.

I think she's got a good case against him. Plagiarism aside, he went on TV and made false statements about her. That is slander. He could say that it was just his opinion or a joke, but it's only a joke if it's funny. It wasn't funny.

She had a legitimate lawsuit with regard to the cookbook. It was her idea, plain and simple. During which time Jerry Seinfeld went on the media circuit to make fun of her and hurt her name. The man has a lot of money but no "sense" (get it!?) and I think that she has good reason for a lawsuit. Just cause the guy is rich doesn't mean he's above reproach.

I don't know if there is any merit to this woman's legal claim against Seinfeld's wife, but even if there is, her comments about feeling "scared," "frightened," and "vulnerable" are bullshit. To use gimme's words, this is an "overrated, overpaid douchebag clown" we're talking about, not O.J. ;-) This woman is either paranoid, batty, or playing up her so-called trauma to garner sympathy in court. Probably all of the above. Hell, she'll probably sue Seinfeld himself in a few years when her daughter asks what "sponge-worthy" means.

This woman had to expect some publicity would result from suing Seinfeld's wife. That doesn't mean she deserved anything that anyone said, but playing the "but the children!" card is a little ridiculous. I also don't think anything in Seinfeld's appearance was defamation.

I hope she gets a boatload of bucks from this. Seinfeld used the media to defame her. It was a dirty trick to use his connections to get on letterman with the sole intent to spew libelous comments while barely defending his wife.
