Woman's Body Found on Long Island

2008_10_walsh1.jpgNewsday reports that "the body of a white woman" was found this morning as police searched for missing 29-year-old teacher Leah Walsh (pictured). A staffer at the North Hills Country Club found the body and called the police. However, the police say it's "too soon to say" if it is Walsh; Detective Lt. Kevin Smith said the body is "an unknown victim" of "an undetermined homicide... Other than [the body being white] we haven't been able to identify the body at this time. We believe the body has been there over 24 hours." Walsh has been missing since Monday morning--her car was found on the side of the highway.

White, black, green, red—she's a human being and the color of her skin shouldn't have anything to do with it. The news like the Daily News, the Post, Fox, CBS, NBC, etc make victims sound as if they're not real people with real families... Murder in this nation is glorified not shunned.

R.I.P.

i couldn't disagree more, i want the news to report the races of all victims, perpetrators, cops, lawyers etc...

Husband. Save the taxpayers the cost of a trial. This isn't Shawshank Redemption. Husband did it. Bastard.

Excellent police work.

I'll wait for the full report on the seven o'clock news.

It's important to report that the body found was that of a white woman because no identification has been made. That skin color is why one can speculate that it might be Leah Walsh. If it had been a black woman, that would also be relevant to report because it'd rule out the connection.

Very sad ending to this story. I'm eager to learn more details.

"Excellent police work."

Yep, gotta give the cops a lot of credit. "A staffer at the North Hills Country Club found the body and called the police." And then they showed up to check it out! Excellent work by the NCPD.

saw this yesterday, read the article. it was the husband. as anyone who follows mystery novels and series, it is often someone close to the victim. it doesn't require columbo to figure it out. case closed.

This is gonna be on A&E or Tru TV in like a year or two.

They were probably held up by the guy who wouldn't shut his car door.

Don't these philandering, wife-killing husbands know that all they are doing is fueling Nancy Grace's career?

That dude is guilty...look at him...he looks like Scott Peterson's cousin....take my car's...get the eff outta here murderer!!!

The "wooded areas" of Long Island -- what's left of them -- are way too sparse to surreptitiously dispose of a body. Geez. Don't these knuckleheads watch Law & Order?

Still, all joking aside, a tragedy.

"All we want are the facts, ma'am" and "All we know are the facts, ma'am". "Just the facts, ma'am".

This really is sad. No doubt, husband did it. But I must confess that as I read this yesterday there was a part of me hoping, hoping she'd had car trouble and gone for help and, I don't know... I just didn't want her to be another woman killed by a husband or boyfriend.

Welcome to Obama's America.

MWWS. The husband did it. Or her secret lover who she called to fix the tire.

easiest job ever = law & order writer with an internet connection

They arrest the husband by monday. The dude did it.

I was right, husband. Typical MWWS.
