Poehler Comes Close to Going Into Labor on Live TV

Weekend Update, the longtime staple of Saturday Night Live that sends up the news stories of the week, began last night with a breaking exclusive of its own: co-anchor Amy Poehler had just given birth to a baby boy. Alongside husband Will Arnett, Poehler delivered her first child "Archie" early Saturday evening. Archie Arnett came in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and both mother and child are reported to be in good health. Poehler was not expecting to miss last night's show and had been rehearsing up until Friday. Her delivery means in all likelihood that her final episode of SNL was last week, where Poehler got the opportunity to shine with a rap number alongside a dancing Sarah Palin on a night that scored the highest ratings for the show in fourteen years.

Archie is one of those old time names. Definitely not a name I will pick for my child, but it's each to their own I suppose.

that's nothing, sarah palin traveled to texas, gave a speech while her water broke, then took an 8 hour flight to alaska, with a stopover in seattle, landed in anchorage, then drove 45 minutes to wasilla!

As we learned this fall no one ever leaves SNL. They even rolled out Bill Murray. Poehler will be back. But, the Palin rap was a great cap to her run as a regular.

Archie, if picked on, will have the best comeback lines.

Oh come on. You know how many women work as long as they can, many right up til their delivery date? You men are such wimps. If youse got pregnant, it'd be 9 months of 100% paid sick leave, plus a month bed rest after, and another year off with full pay.

But, someone above is right...Archie is bound to be one funny kid! And, a cutie, to judge by his parents.

I hope Amy comes back to SNL from time to time, like Tina Fey. She's great.

Now that's going against the grain. Forget all the ridiculous made-up names like Shaniqua or Tarrazz (or P. Diddy). Go with something easy to remember and spell but still unique like "Archie"! Not even in the top 1000 anymore. Probably not even in the top 5000. Although the poor kid might get a few "jughead" jokes at school.
