Manhattan Gun Buyback Nets Over 500 Guns

2008_10_cashguns.jpgA number of Manhattan churches holding "cash for guns" events yesterday brought in more than 500 guns yesterday. The buyback, funded by the NYPD and Manhattan DA's office, followed in the footsteps of similar programs in Brooklyn where a $200 cash card would be given for every firearm turned in with no questions asked. The Daily News spotted two women handing over guns they inherited from relatives; one said, "I found it" in the apartment "and freaked out. I was afraid to even touch it. I hate guns." There's still $100,000 in financing for the program--that's another 500 guns!

I sincerely hope that the police are discreetly videotaping the perps that are bringing in these guns.

The police still have their guns, right? Somehow I don't feel safer.

Thank God this program gets these weapons out of these dangerous people's hands.

Agreed TKaisen... because allowing women to drive is dangerous enough.

Anyone know where I can get some free guns? $200 a pop sounds pretty good right now.
